world class bullshit

Being in business school, I hear a lot of companies talking about their "world class solutions" for xyz. It sounds to me like a bunch of bullshit. What company would ever say, "Well, our product is only good enough for this state"? Maybe I might assume that 'world class' means China-quality, which means it is often defective. 'World class' is one of those meaningless terms that politicians use to fill the air with sound.

That phrase started about 10 years ago as people in charge searched for some way of saying they wanted a product or service that everyone would want to buy. But it got applied to everything from socks to the way you put them on - and within about a month was just another useless buzzword for nerdo-bingo (now called buzzword bingo). I have seen this happen a lot when you get a phrase that sounds good overheard at a seminar or meeting, and the low quality person takes it back and overuses it to sound impressive, informed, or up on the latest with upper management. Where I work the word is "Exemplar." Everything is exemplar where I work... I had to look it up... we make examples. Sheesh.
