Sorry for the lack of posting, but other priorities have taken precedence, such as coping with some serious pain. I have a bulging disc in C5-C6, osteophytes at C4, and some spinal stenosis in the area. I'm getting a second epidural pain block next week because the first one did not work. If the second injection does not work then the doctor wants to perform surgery so I will get some second opinions before taking any action/making a decision on that.
To further exacerbate my suffering, I am still enrolled in school and actively attending classes. My goal in both courses is a 69.5, also known as "C", also known as "receives credit" and also known as "tuition fully reimbursed". I am taking the two most difficult/time-consuming courses in the program. That was simply a stroke of really fantastic luck to go along with the other stroke of luck that brought me to my knees.
p.s. Here are some positives:
1) I forgot how much I enjoy cooking. My domesticity level is much increased since I can't do much, and I have been cooking a lot of meals and goodies. Various mouths have been happy about this.
2) Medical insurance did not mean much to me until recently. Medical procedures are very expensive. I am glad that I am not paying for them out-of-pocket.

Holy cow...sorry to hear about all of this. I guess the good thing is that they figured out what was causing the pain. A friend had neck surgery and was back on the bike in no time.

I'm sorry to hear about your spinal stenosis. Up until I read your post I was feeling pretty sorry for myself because I can't run for 6 weeks due to a fractured tibial mesamoid bone. You reminded me that in the big scheme of things my problem isn't so bad.

Very sorry to hear this Megabeth. :( Hope this turns out good once you get help. Sometimes you just have to pause things for a bit. You will be good as new soon I am sure. Just happy to hear you were working out what was up and have a plan now. Please keep us up with what happens? Was kinda worrying.

Hope you can avoid surgery but if not, I can recommend Dr Sam Bowen, who did hubby's microdiscectomy. I think he works in Brookwood, Trinity, or St Vincents. He's a neurosurgeon.
Soooo glad we had better insurance back then than we do now!

I think surgery is unlikely. I have heard of Dr Bowen when doing research on neurosurgeons. He is at Trinity. I am optimistic that the second injection is going to finish off the problem. I am feeling better this week than I have since the problem began.

So glad you're back on line. I hope the pain is easing a bit and that you can rest.

Thanks for the update. Am hoping that this spinal problem will be resolved without surgery--that would be great.

Don't go with surgery. Try every other alternative.
