I am going to assume that it takes a while for synthroid to work, assuming that this IS the real problem. I've been taking it for three days and don't feel better yet. What frustrates me is that I want to get some tasks taken care of, but it takes three times as long to do them as it used to. For example, yesterday while cleaning the house, I would sweep or vacuum, and then I would sit down on the sofa and relax for half an hour to recover from my recent activity. At the end of the day, I took a two-hour nap.
I've always known myself as having a sweet tooth that belies all rational thought when it comes to food choices. It's a blessing from God that my metabolism is fast, because otherwise I would not be able to control myself enough to go on a diet. For the past few days, I've been craving salty food upon waking in the morning rather than my usual cereal and soy milk combo. That is unusual enough to take note of.

It takes up to three weeks to get the full effect of the synthroid, but after about a week you should start noticing a difference.
Good heavens - if you are accomplishing all of this (the ultimate frisbee, the cycling, running, swimming and all the competitions) when you *aren't* really feeling up to snuff, I can't imagine what you will do when you are!

Heh, one of the women I ride with said that I am already a mutant, so she fears what I will be if my hormones are regulating properly.
Thanks for the advice on the synthroid.

Even though it bugs you, give it a few days to work at least. And there might be a need to adjust the dosage too. Hope this works.

Am assuming you are ok, just working through the drug dosage? I was told by someone else on this it can take a while to get the dosage right and it does have to be checked and adjusted every so often.

My hubby is on synthroid. He had hyperparathyroidism almost 2 years ago (the part that regulates calcium was out of whack and it was sucking calcium out of his bones and also from the food he ate)and had to have surgery in which they ended up taking out part of his thyroid.
It took a little while, but the synthroid did him wonders. Give it time.
